- We believe that all children, whatever their circumstances, have the right to thrive, fulfil their potential, be treated with dignity and participate in society. Since 1952, UNICEF has been working with partners to bring services and opportunities to Cambodia, services such as education, health, nutrition, protection, water, sanitation and hygiene, civic engagement and to make sure those services reach those most in need, including during emergencies. UNICEF promotes the rights and well-being of every child in everything it does. Together with our partners, we work to translate this commitment into practical action, with a dedicated effort to reach the most vulnerable and excluded girls and boys in urban and rural poor areas of Cambodia. We focus on equity, so our achievements benefit all children. We work with and for young people to make their voices heard, and we work with partners–from the community to national level–to create solutions that propel children and young people into the future. We advocate to give children the best start in life, because proper care at the youngest age forms the strongest foundation for a person’s and society’s future. UNICEF was one the first organizations to return to Cambodia after the fall of the Khmer Rouge regime in 1979, leading the emergency response efforts. As such, we play a unique role in promoting a system where the country’s children can thrive, building on its strong cooperation with communities, civil society and the government. We have over 65 years of expertise in the country, a network that spans the globe, a passion for innovation, dynamic partnerships and a commitment to realizing the rights of every child. Our work is impartial and non-political. We work in Cambodia to give children an environment in which they are protected, healthy and educated, so that they can build a better life for themselves and their country. - UNICEF is the driving force that helps build a world where the rights of every child are realized. We have the global authority to influence decision-makers, and a variety of partners at grassroots level to turn the most innovative ideas into reality. This makes us unique among world organizations, and unique among those working with the young. We believe that nurturing and caring for children are the cornerstones of human progress. UNICEF was created with this purpose in mind—to work with others to overcome the obstacles that poverty, violence, disease and discrimination place in a child’s path. We believe that we can, together, advance the cause of humanity. We advocate for measures to give children the best start in life, because proper care at the youngest age forms the strongest foundation for a person’s future. We promote girls’ education—ensuring that they complete primary education as a minimum—because it benefits all children, both girls and boys. Girls who are educated grow up to become better thinkers, better citizens, and better parents to their own children. We act so that all children are immunized against common childhood diseases, and are well nourished, because it is wrong for a child to suffer or die from a preventable illness. We work to prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS among young people, because it is right to keep them from harm and enable them to protect themselves and others. We help children and families affected by HIV/AIDS to live their lives with dignity. We involve everyone in creating protective environments for children. We are present to relieve suffering during emergencies, and wherever children are threatened. Because no child should be exposed to violence, abuse or exploitation. UNICEF upholds the Convention on the Rights of the Child. We work to assure equality for all those who are discriminated against, girls and women in particular.

- The UNICEF office in Georgia was opened in Tbilisi at the end of 1993 in order to provide humanitarian assistance in response to the conflicts and social crises in the country. As the political, economic and financial situation stabilised, UNICEF shifted its emphasis from emergency to rehabilitation and development. UNICEF works through five-year cooperation programmes being developed in partnership with the Government of Georgia. 2011 saw the start of a new five-year Government of Georgia/UNICEF country programme seeking to help the country achieve its commitments to children under the 2015 Millennium Development Goals. The country programme for 2011-2015, through its two major components – ‘Integrated and inclusive systems for children’ and ‘Social policy, child rights monitoring & communication’ – is designed to ensure that children, especially those living in the poorest families, are able to benefit from quality social services, enabling them to enjoy life in a family environment. The programme supports the Government in providing quality education to all school-aged children, and contributes to reducing child mortality by strengthening perinatal services in the country. Children in conflict with the law remains an important target for UNICEF, and the programme works to ensure that more children are diverted from the penitentiary system, with greater support from social workers and psychologists. UNICEF works with the Government and civil society partners in the implementation and monitoring of the Convention on the Rights of the Child.
